MYOPIA CONTROL · FOR KIDS AND TEENS

Essilor Stellest lenses

Spectacle lenses that correct vision and slow myopia progression — by 67% on average¹ when worn 12+ hours a day. ALIV carries both generations: Stellest and the new Stellest 2.0.

The eye exam is free, at our salons in Astana and Almaty.

WHY IT MATTERS

Myopia is more than a “minus” on the prescription

While a child grows, the eye grows too. With myopia the eye elongates faster than normal — and every “added” dioptre stays for good: eye growth is irreversible. High myopia in adulthood raises risks for the retina.

That is why the modern approach is not just glasses “per prescription”, but slowing the eye growth itself while the child is still developing. This is exactly what Stellest lenses do: the child wears ordinary-looking glasses while the lens works on two tasks at once — sharp vision now and myopia control for the future.

Kids playing outdoors — 2 hours a day outside

By 2050, myopia is projected in roughly half of the world’s population.⁷

The window for intervention is the school years: the earlier control starts, the more dioptres can be “not gained”.

TECHNOLOGY

A constellation of microlenses

A Stellest lens is built as two zones in one. The central zone is regular correction: the child sees sharply at any distance, just like with standard single-vision lenses.²

Around it are 11 rings of 1,021 aspherical microlenses (H.A.L.T. — Highly Aspherical Lenslet Target). They create a volume of unfocused light in front of the retina that follows its shape. To the brain it is an optical “grow slower” signal — the eye elongates less quickly.

From the outside these are ordinary kids’ glasses: the microlenses are barely visible and need no special care.

Stellest 2.0 carries H.A.L.T. MAX: 12 rings, microlenses with higher optical power and asphericity. The “braking” signal volume is twice as deep and sits farther from the retina.⁵

TWO GENERATIONS

Stellest 2.0 — the amplified signal

The first generation stays in the line-up — it is the lens with the longest observation history, 6 years of clinical data.³ Stellest 2.0 is its evolution: in a one-year comparative study, eyes wearing 2.0 grew slower than eyes wearing the first generation.⁵ Which generation suits your child is a decision you make with the ophthalmologist at the eye exam.

Per the study, the amplified H.A.L.T. MAX signal is particularly relevant for fast-progressing myopia.⁵

RESEARCH

Eight years of follow-up — numbers, not promises

Stellest is one of the most studied myopia-control technologies: the randomized clinical trial started in 2018 (Wenzhou Medical University) and is still running.

PRICES

One price per pair — no “from”

The price is per pair of lenses. The eye exam is free; mounting into the frame is included.

BUNDLE

The frame is already in the price

With any pair of Stellest lenses, a frame worth up to 20,000 ₸ is included — nothing extra to pay for it. Picked a pricier frame? You pay only half of its price.

A 19 990 ₸ frame → you pay 0 ₸

Horien Frame Horien C60082 C5 48-16-140 29 900 ₸ → 50% surcharge = 14 950 ₸

Applies when ordering a pair of Stellest, Stellest 2.0 or Stellest Tint lenses at ALIV salons or on aliv.kz. Full-rim frames are recommended for myopia control — they hold the lens securely in the correct position. Not combinable with other promotions or ALIV Club bonus redemption: the better of the two conditions applies.

FRAMES

A frame that fits right — and that your child loves

For myopia control, frame fit matters as much as the lenses themselves: in the salon we take measurements and mark the pupil centres so the Stellest microlenses sit exactly where they should. And we choose together with your child — the glasses must not only fit correctly but be liked: they are the one wearing them every day. Below is a part of our in-stock kids’ and teens’ frames; all full-rim and Stellest-ready, the full range is in our salons and the catalog.

SECOND PAIR · SUN

Myopia control continues outdoors

To slow myopia, children should spend at least two hours a day outdoors.⁶ But in bright sun, clear Stellest glasses beg to come off — and control pauses. Stellest Airwear Tint solves this: the same H.A.L.T. technology with a sun tint and the Crizal Sun XProtect coating. The child wears them outside like regular sunglasses — and the eye keeps receiving the “braking” signal.

For the lenses to work

— Daily, at least 12 hours in total — that is the schedule behind the 67% effect.¹ — Short breaks are fine (swimming, sports).

— At least 2 hours a day outdoors.⁶ — Keep books and screens at least 20 cm away. — Every 20 minutes of near work — 20 seconds looking into the distance. — Near-work load at age 6 — up to 2.5 hours a day, growing gradually with age. — Proper sleep and a balanced diet.

An ophthalmologist check-up every 6 months. ALIV will remind you when it is due.

— Take off and put on with both hands; store in a hard case; never rest lens-side down. — Wipe with microfibre; if soiled — warm soapy water (up to 40°C) or lens cleaner. — Never: alcohol, acetone, household glass cleaners, rough wipes, hairspray on the lenses. — Keep away from heat: a hot car interior, sauna, radiators, sharp temperature swings.

Questions and answers

The ophthalmologist decides based on the eye exam; clinical trials included children from age 6.⁵

In the two-year study, 100% of children fully adapted within one week.² A slight unusual sensation at the edge of the visual field is normal in the first days.

The effect is directly tied to wearing time: the 67% figure comes from wearing 12+ hours daily.¹ The less they are worn, the weaker the control. The glasses should stay on all day except sleep, water and sports.

Published follow-up data show no “rebound effect” — no accelerated catch-up eye growth: the eye returns to its usual pace. A randomized crossover study of HAL lenses: after children switched to single-vision lenses for 6 months, no accelerated rebound was recorded.

Yes: Stellest 2.0 is made with cylinder up to 4.00 D and prism up to 2Δ.

The H.A.L.T. MAX technology: 12 rings of stronger, more aspherical microlenses — twice the volume of the “braking” signal. In the one-year comparison, eyes in 2.0 grew slower.⁵

Yes — ALIV also carries other myopia-control solutions (for example, Hoya MiYOSMART). At the eye exam the ophthalmologist will help pick what suits your child best.

Yes. Airwear 1.59 is polycarbonate, 40× more impact-resistant; for contact sports and swimming the glasses can come off.

At ALIV opticians: Astana, 36B Bukhar Zhyrau, and Almaty, 35A Satpayev. We check vision, help choose the lens generation and the frame, take measurements, mark the pupil centres and mount the lenses. You can also order Stellest online at aliv.kz.

Current prices are in the “Prices” section of this page — they come live from the aliv.kz catalog and are quoted per pair with mounting included. The eye exam is free, and a frame worth up to 20,000 ₸ is bundled in.

Yes. The Stellest 2.0 and Stellest Tint pages on aliv.kz are open for online orders, while fitting, measurements and mounting happen at an ALIV salon in Astana or Almaty — so the lenses work exactly as designed.
