Toric lenses: sharp vision with astigmatism
With astigmatism, the eye's optics bend light differently along different meridians, so a regular spherical lens never delivers full sharpness: the image stays slightly blurred both near and far. Toric lenses have different optical power along their axes, and their design stabilises the lens in the correct position on the eye — the picture snaps into focus and contours stop "smearing".
